DERRICK BONYUET
Dr. Derrick Bonyuet is a practitioner who brings over 26 years of industry work experience. For the last 22 years, Dr. Bonyuet has been working for a major technology company and prior to that, he spent 4 years working for a Big Four accounting firm. He is an Assistant Professor of Management in the School of Business & Technology at Huston-Tillotson University. Dr. Bonyuet teaches Accounting, Finance, and Strategic Management.
Dr. Bonyuet earned his PhD in business from Oklahoma State University and holds master’s degrees in finance and international business from the University of Houston and Thunderbird School of Global Management. He holds a B.S. in accounting from Universidad Católica Andrés and is a CPA licensed in the state of Texas. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designations.
Dr. Bonyuet is a strong advocate of the community. He is a board member of Skillpoint Alliance, a non-profit organization based in Austin, TX, whose purpose is to provide workforce training and development. He also volunteers as a business mentor for Score and has volunteered preparing tax returns for the community as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program since 1996.
JASON CARTER
Dr. Jason Carter is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Business and Technology at Huston-Tillotson University. Dr. Carter teaches Organizational Behavior and Human Resources.
He possesses a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration specializing in Economics and Finance, an MBA with a specialization in International Management, and a Ph.D. in Global Leadership, with a focus on Organizational Management. Before becoming a professor, Dr. Carter spent eight years in the auditing profession as both an internal and external auditor for various state and higher education institutions.
STEVEN EDMOND
Dr. Steven Edmond holds the doctorate in International Business and has almost four decades of teaching and administrative experience at the university level. Edmond teaches International Business.
Dr. Edmond is Huston-Tillotson University’s Director of the Office of International Programs (OIP). As HT’s international affairs liaison, Edmond’s travel experience extends to over fifty countries on five continents, especially the African continent. Early in his tenure at HT, Edmond was awarded a UNCF grant to create a 2-week training program in Monrovia, Liberia to train women to become better business owners. He also helped launch a community bank to support micro-loans for Liberian women.
Edmond was the recipient of the Exxon Mobil International Faculty Development Fellowship. This fellowship enabled Edmond to attend a series of seminars over a two-week period in Budapest, Hungary and Prague, Czech Republic.
Additionally, Edmond was a Visiting Professor of International Business at Monterrey Tech in Mexico City, Mexico for over one year where he taught in the MBA program.
LAURA M. HUGHES
Laura Hughes is an adjunct business faculty in the MBA program teaches Legal and Ethical Environment of Business. She is a graduate from Clark Atlanta University with a B.A. in International Business and Business Management. Hughes has a Master’s in Project Management from DeVry University and a J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law.
Hughes is the Founding CEO of Fleur De Lis Development Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri. She enjoyed a seventeen-year career with Sprint where she became a subject matter expert in various areas in telecommunications and real estate. She worked at the World Trade Center in St. Louis and assisted the developer community with EB-5 foreign direct investment.
Hughes joined the Great Southwest Regional Center firm in Texas as its Chief Operations Officer. She managed foreign direct investment in Oil & Gas Saltwater Recycling Facilities in West Texas. Hughes also directed all aspects of foreign and domestic EB-5 investment and international compliances with USCIS, SEC, Texas Railroad Commission, OSHA regulations.
HECTOR GOMEZ MACFARLAND
Dr. Hector Gomez Macfarland earned the Master of Management and the doctorate in Marketing degrees from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Additionally, he earned the Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Electronics and Telecom Engineering from Instituto Tecnologio Y De Estudios Superiors De Monterrey (ITESM) in Mexico.
Dr. MacFarland is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Huston-Tillotson University. He teaches the Marketing Concepts and Strategies course. In the summer, MacFarland teaches an International Business course at Pforzheim University in Germany.
Dr. Macfarland has over 27 years of experience as an International Business and Marketing Executive and as a Technology Entrepreneur. He is the founder and owner of OHEL Technologies, LLC, (www.oheltechnologies.com), an Industrial Internet Of Things (IIoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions provider with customers in the Military, Aerospace, Semiconductor and Construction Industries Worldwide, and founder and co-owner of Biztram, LLC (www.biztram.com in progress), a company offering training and business consulting.
In 2013, he was recognized by President Barak Obama as one the 15 high impact Latino technology entrepreneurs in the US. President Obama’s administration invited him to the Annual Organization of Americas States (OAS) Conference on Latin American technology entrepreneurs in the U.S., that took place in Brasilia, Brazil.
ROHAN THOMPSON
Dr. Rohan Thompson is an analytical strategist with a record of successful initiatives that resulted in increased revenue and competitiveness in both academic and business organizations. He teaches the Decision Theory and Business Analytics course.
Dr. Thompson possesses advanced practical knowledge in data analytics with the ability to analyze, predict, and optimize any business problem. He is a highly skilled researcher and communicator with demonstrated ability to conduct applied qualitative research, evaluate complex data, and develop solution-oriented recommendations.
Dean Thompson has taught at several universities around the world. After completing his Ph.D. from the Indiana Institute of Technology, Thompson went on to complete two certificates in data analytics from Cornell University. Additionally, he once owned and operated his own business before deciding to focus on higher education.
